Welcome

Headteacher's Welcome

It is a privilege to be the Headteacher of Hurst Drive Primary School. We are a vibrant school in the heart of Waltham Cross with a diverse community of children, parents and staff. We are also excited to be part of a new and developing partnership with Greenfield Nursery School with whom we have been federated since April 2023.

Our school motto is 'Success for All' so we expect the best of ourselves and the children we teach. As a dedicated and unified staff team, we strive to provide the best possible start in life for all of our children through teaching the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics while also ensuring we provide a rich wider curriculum in which children can excel.  Our children are encouraged to explore, discover and question through a range of exciting learning opportunities both within and outside the classroom through our Hurst Drive Learning Behaviours which the community recently voted on:

We love to be independent

We love to be supportive

We love to take risks

We love not knowing

We love being curious

Our children are incredibly happy at school and consistently demonstrate our values of confidence, kindness, respect, community and inclusivity. We are fortunate enough to have an excellent pastoral team in school who are able to support and help all of our children and families to feel welcome, safe and settled at Hurst Drive. Visitors regularly comment on the positive and welcoming atmosphere within the school and the excellent attitude to learning which our children display.

As a staff team, we embrace the idea of 'life long learning' and are always looking for ways in which to improve our own practice through training, learning from best practice, partnership working and being reflective in what we do in order to improve outcomes for children.

Our focus is on ensuring all of our children have their individual needs met and are enabled and supported to develop the knowledge and skills so that when they leave Hurst Drive they are well prepared for secondary school. We encourage all of our parents and carers to be involved in their children's learning as much as possible and to partner with us for their benefit of their children.

We do hope you find out everything you may need to know from browsing our website and encourage you to come along to one of our parent tours to see our wonderful school in person. If you do have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to contact the school office.
