    Dear Parent/Carer,

Please see below for some important notices about school life:

Last Day of Term - Wednesday 21 July 2021

The school year will finish on Wednesday 21 July 2021 at 1:45pm.  On this day, we will be holding our prize draw for those children who have maintained 100% attendance, and the winning child will win a brand-new Amazon Fire tablet along with a selection of brand-new age-appropriate reading books.  So long as the child has permission to have his/her photograph on-line, we will reveal the winner via our Facebook page.

Please note, we will be holding class parties on this day, so children are welcome to come to school in non-school uniform, and parents/carers are welcome to donate some juice or nut-free snacks for the children to enjoy.

Move Up Day - Tuesday 20 July 2021

On Tuesday, every child will spend the afternoon in their new classroom with their new class teacher to help prepare them for the change in September 2021.  They will be returned to class for the end of the day so you may collect your child as normal from their current classroom.

Free School Meals - Summer Holiday - Supermarket Voucher

If you have a child eligible for free school meals, you will receive an e-mail from noreply@edenred.com on Monday 19 July 2021 with a code for you to exchange for a £50 supermarket voucher to help you buy food for your children.  If you haven't received your e-mail by Tuesday, please contact the School Office.  Make sure you check your clutter/junk e-mail before contacting the School Office.

Tomorrow - Friday 16 July 2021 - at noon, the system will go live for parents/carers to make bookings for Breakfast Club and Wraparound Care for the autumn term.  You may click here to read more information about this before- and after-school care.

    Parent and Carer Survey 2021

Thank you to every parent/carer who took the time to complete the survey - you may click here to read the results.  We will take your feedback to ensure we keep improving the school further to best serve the children and the community.

    Reporting Concerns about a Child

During the Summer Holidays, parents/carers may see or hear something about a child that worries them.  If you are concerned about a child's safety, please telephone the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.  Of course, if you are worried a child is at immediate risk of harm, telephone the police on 999.

    Dear Parent/Carer,

Please see below for some important information about school life:

    Families First

Please click here to go to the Families First website which details support for families with children aged 18 and under (or aged 25 and under if the young person has a special educational need or disability).

If you do need support, please also telephone or e-mail Mrs Bye (Family Support Worker).  Many parents/carer won't be aware of lots of the good work completed by Mrs Bye - she has supported families with everything from aggressive and bogus landlords to helping parents manage children's behaviour in the home.

    Annual Reports & Class Allocations

From Monday 12 July 2021, every child will take home their annual report, detailing their attainment and progress across the curriculum in this school year.  There will also be a letter telling you which class your child will be in next year and which teacher will be teaching them.  Some year groups will have additional assessment information:

    • If your child is in Year 1, they will have a sheet explaining whether they met the standard in the mock Phonics Screening Check.
    • If your child is in Year 2 or Year 6, they will have a sheet explaining whether they met the standard in reading, writing and maths in the mock standardised assessment tests.

If you have any questions about the content of your child's report, you may speak to one of the Office Administrators to make an appointment to meet with your child's teacher in person or via the telephone.

Friends of Hurst Drive - End-of-Year Raffle

On Wednesday 14 July 2021, the Friends of Hurst Drive will be selling strips of raffle tickets for £1 on the front playground after school, so parents/carers may be in with a chance to win one of the prize hampers.

Hawk House (Blue House) - Winners' Treat

As they collected the most house points over the summer term, the children in Hawk House (i.e. the blue team) will have a special treat on Friday 16 July 2021.  They may come to school in blue non-school uniform, and they will get to enjoy some bouncy castles and have a tasty treat or two!

    Parent and Carer Survey 2021

The survey is now closed.  We had over a 100 responses which is fantastic!  We will collate the results and publish them for parents/carers next week.

    Dear Parent/Carer,

Please find below some important notices about school life:

    Annual Reports 2021

As a reminder, you will receive your child's annual report in the week commencing Monday 12 July 2021.  This will contain information relating to their behaviour and learning across the year.  If you have a child in Year 1, you will also receive a letter confirming whether they did/did not pass the mock Phonics Screening Check the teachers completed with the children.  Also, if you have a child in Year 2 or Year 6, you will receive a letter confirming whether they did/did not pass the mock Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) the teachers completed with the children.

Along with the report, you will receive a letter stating which class your child will be in next year, including the name of their teacher.

If you have any questions/concerns about the report, you will be able to meet with your child's teacher in person or via the telephone, and the process for making this appointment is explained in the report that you will receive.

    Parent/Carer Parking

We have received a complaint from a local resident as a parent/carer from our school verbally abused her when she pointed out that her car was on her driveway and she was unable to leave because this parent had left his vehicle parked across her driveway.

It is very upsetting that so many of our parents/carers drive and park unsafely outside our school.  Most of our families live locally and should walk to school.  If all those families were to walk, we would have very few parents/carers driving and parking on Hurst Drive during school drop off and collection times.

If you do need to drive to school, we recommend giving yourself enough time to park safely in one of the surrounding roads (e.g. Raglan Avenue) before walking to school.  Doing this will make it safer for parents/carers and children to cross the road outside the school, and it will stop arguments occurring between parents and carers, as well as between parents/carers and local residents.

Thank you to those parents/carers who always behave respectfully, whether it be on foot or in their car.

Calibre Audio - Support for Children and Adults with a Disability

Calibre audio provides a free audiobook service for anyone with a disability that makes reading print difficult, and includes books for children in primary school, secondary school and adults in college, and allows for unlimited borrowing.

Dates for the 2021-22 Academic Year

Please click here to view our website calendar which has been updated to include important dates for the 2021-22 academic year.  Currently, the Office Administrators are busy booking school trips and workshops to complement the children's learning - we are hopeful that we will return to a more normal school year come September 2021.  Also, please click here to find our term dates, particularly if you plan to book a holiday in the UK or abroad.  Remember, term-time holidays will be unauthorised and this could lead to a fixed penalty notice.  You may click here to find out more about attendance at Hurst Drive Primary School.

    Parent and Carer Survey 2021

Thank you to the parents/carers who have already completed the survey - we are close to beating our record of 92 respondents.  We have scheduled another e-mail to be sent to parents/carers early next week with a link to complete the survey before it closes on Friday 9 July 2021 and we will send the results to parents and carers before the end of the school year.

We have already received lots of helpful information about what parents and carers like about the school, and how they would like the school to improve further, so please let your voice be heard by completing the survey.
