Christmas 2023

The Autumn Term has been especially busy with many successes!

We have had a very busy but wonderful end to term. The children in the primary school have all taken part in some truly memorable performances, where it was fantastic to see the children’s confidence and enjoyment when they were performing- well done everyone! It was lovely to also welcome the nursery children to the primary school for our Reception Christmas songs, they did really well and enjoyed visiting the bigger school.

The children in nursery and preschool have all settled in so well to their new rooms and new routines this term and we've had some lovely stay and play sessions where it has been great to welcome so many of our parents to the nursery.

The nursery have also started running parent workshops again this year, thank you to everyone who came, we are planning to put more on in the new year starting with a toilet training workshop in response to our survey.

Year 6 choir visited High Grove House where the children entertained residents with their festive singing. They were a credit to the school, and we appreciate all of the effort that went in to their performance. Well done Year 6!

Let's not forget the wonderful celebration of all cultures last week at Hurst Drive, where we saw so many children dressed in various costumes. Thank you to the parents and carers who made this possible.

Christmas Dinner at Hurst Drive last week was truly delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you to the kitchen staff for all their hard work.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all staff at Greenfield and Hurst Drive Federation for their hard work and commitment in making our schools wonderful places to grow and to learn. Without efficient office staff, teachers, early years practitioners and support staff taking the time to plan and create these magical experiences, site and cleaning staff who ensure the schools are clean and tidy for the start of each new day and Midday supervisors who make lunchtimes run smoothly, we would not have the great schools we have.

I also want to thank you for your support this term. We are so pleased with how engaged and supportive parents have been across the federation and how much you value the schools. Parents and carers have been fantastic about trying to bring children into our schools every day this term which has had such an important impact on your children, how they have settled and their learning. Thank you for being a fantastic part of our school community. We also want to say thank you from both teams for the cards, gifts and good wishes you've passed on to us this season.

This leaves me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and happy, healthy and peaceful 2024.

We look forward to seeing you back at both schools on Monday 8th January 2024.
